Geetarz Comments:
Disc 1 and the first two tracks of disc 2 comprise the the 'Rockpalast' television broadcast recorded 16 February 1979 at Studio-L. This includes the retake of "Sultans of Swing" which was not broadcast originally.
Disc 2 tracks 3 - 12 are sourced from the German Radio broadcast of the show the next night in Cologne, Germany, on February 17, 1979.
Together, they comprise both nights, and are an essential "Top 10" part of any DS core collection.
I have quite deliberatedly named this set as "Cologne '79" to distinguish it from the plethora of earlier versions of just "Rockpalast" that are in circulation.
Please note, the Rockpalast material was recorded and presented in mono. I remain deeply convinced that 99.9% of the problem most people have when they see "mono" is psychological, not aural. This mono DS recording is - to me - better and gets more ear time than 99.9999% of the items in my collection. 'Nuff Said.
The Rockpalast material is from the digital satellite rebroadcast in the late 1990s (1998, I think) and should be a qualitative and quantitative improvement over the copies most people have of this - in fact,
it's so much better than what has been commonly available that it may sound completely new to those already familiar with the material.
